Redeemer's History

Redeemer Church and Redeemer Christian Academy were established in the 1940s and have been faithfully serving West LA out of their current building for over 80 years. From 1979 to 2020, Redeemer Church was led by Pastor Rich Frazier. Pastor Rich was a man of deep prayer, regularly spending four hours a day praying in the church sanctuary. He had a passion for healing prayer, frequently fasting and praying for the sick, visiting the terminally ill in their homes and contending for miracles.

Over the last decade, Redeemer has suffered numerous hardships, culminating with the unexpected death of Pastor Rich in 2020. But God raised up a small but mighty leadership team to preserve the legacy of Redeemer.

Daniel Mbusi, a real estate developer, has been a member of Redeemer church for over 40 years. Pastor Rich had been like a father to him, and after his passing Daniel felt a deep calling to honor and preserve the spiritual legacy of Redeemer. So he took out a loan and rescued Redeemer from financial debt. Together with Pastor Gabriel Frazier (Rich’s son), Mrs. Jacobs the new school principal, and Ms. Bahati who has been part of Redeemer for over a decade, Daniel and team have not only kept Redeemer alive but have begun restoring it, initiating renovation projects throughout the campus believing for a fresh move of God.

In mid-2025, the Redeemer team began looking for opportunities to rent their space. While the decision to seek tenants was initially driven by practical financial needs, the deeper desire of their hearts was to find a church who would become family for a long time. Prior to meeting Epicentre, Redeemer had been in conversation with numerous other organizations that were interested in their space and willing to pay market value. But when they met Epicentre in November 2025, they sensed that this was a sovereign move of God. They turned down the other opportunities that would have given them greater rental income, and they have joyfully invited Epicentre into a long-term spiritual covenant where we are stewarding and building on this sacred space together.

Epicentre West LA and Redeemer Covenant

This document articulates the shared spiritual commitments, relational posture, and ministry vision for the partnership between Epicentre West LA and Redeemer, serving as the spiritual foundation for all policies, decisions, and any shared legal documents.

As our heavenly Father has initiated this partnership, graciously leading us to one another…

…having preserved each of us through various trials

…having used the current leadership at Redeemer to preserve its spiritual legacy

…having brought Epicentre West LA to Redeemer at a divinely appointed time

…having blessed our relationships with an immediate sense of spiritual kinship

…and having given us common vision for a thriving church and school that brings the kingdom of God to Palms and West LA;

We covenant to…

…love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength

…love one another in the way of Jesus – with humility, honor, authenticity, generosity, unity, and long-suffering perseverance

…trust in the leading of the Holy Spirit, always moving by prayer first;

And commit to joyful partnership in ministry by…

…dreaming for, investing in, caring for, and stewarding the property

…doing this together, in mutual submission and trust, remembering that the spaces ultimately belong to God alone

…faithfully managing our financial resources with shared input

…enduring the challenges and celebrating the victories together as one spiritual family, under our heavenly Father, united in Christ, and guided by the Holy Spirit.
